In House Testing

RoHS Testing Services

rohs-testingNorth Shore Components now offers in house RoHS compliance testing, with trained inspectors using the state-of-the-art XRF analyzer to ensure compliance with the EU RoHS Directive and to verify supplier Certificates of Conformance.

The RoHS Directive prohibits consumer electronics from containing quantities of lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), hexavalent chromium (Cr6), polybrominated biphenyl (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) in excess of 0.1% or cadmium (Cd) in excess of 0.01%.
The XRF analyzer uses energy dispersive x-ray fluorescence (ED-XRF) analysis to screen homogenous and non-homogenous samples for restricted RoHS elements as well as over a dozen other materials, including precious metals, solder materials and flame retardants. The handheld analyzer also quickly screens non-homogenous materials such as pc boards, cables, components and assemblies, performing fast and non-destructive tests that eliminate the time and expense associated with laboratory analysis. The XRF handheld analyzer:

  • Automatically classifies a sample as an alloy or a polymer
  • Automatically classifies a sample as homogenous or non-homogenous
  • Permits operators to use IEC guidelines or unique testing protocols
  • Can be programmed to display all elements, RoHS elements only, or selected elements

The XRF analyzer features an easy-to-read display, an intuitive user interface that permits over 100,000 legally defensible measurements to be stored and downloaded as binary encrypted files. The analyzer is also Bluetoothâ„¢ compatible for wireless printing, bar code reading and data transfer.
